Graduate
Level Early Intervention Training
In collaboration with Kent
State University (KSU), the Family Child Learning Center offers high
quality, intensive graduate training programs. Each of these are designed
specifically to help students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to
work at positions related to serving children between birth to six years
of age who are at-risk or have disabilities and their families. Students
may be provided support in the form of traineeships or graduate
assistantships. To receive support, students must be accepted into a
graduate degree program at KSU and they must be recommended by the FCLC/KSU
Interdisciplinary Training Committee.
Students wishing to apply for one of these programs should contact Marilyn
Espe-Sherwindt at (330) 633-2055 or via E-mail at
mespeshe@familychild.org for
application forms and additional information.
Student Quote: “Looking
back, I am amazed at the information I have learned regarding early
intervention in general, and more specifically, about the responsive
teaching strategies I have used and developed. More importantly, I feel
extremely blessed to have the opportunity to develop a unique way of
playing with the children in order to develop a special bond with each one
of them. I am proud to tell outsiders about what I do, even if it is
difficult to understand.”
Student Quote: “I now have a vested interest in all children that could
benefit from the use of responsive teaching strategies, and I truly feel
excited to know I have a chance to make a difference in a child’s live and
in the lives of that child’s family.”
